Required Protocols

Trees in Grid

  • Record name and number of tress (Monthly)
  • Record growth of saplings (Monthly)
  • Bud Burst (Spring readings)
  • Compass GPS Location (once)
  • Pacing skill per student

Soil Protocols

Climate Protocols

  • Haze Protocols- (Quarterly)
  • CO2 ( Quarterly –optional)
  • Count birds, insects, animals (Monthly)
  1. Providing and Monitoring Way Stations for Insects and Birds by Gardens or Seed Balls

TEKS: 3 – 5 (1, 4, 5);6 – 8 (1, 4); 3 – 5 (1, 4, 5);6 – 8 (1, 4); 4 (8-10), 5(9-10), 6 (12), 7 (12-14)

Requirements

  • Record the location and number of seed balls dispersed ( check weekly)
  • Record the growth of the plants (weekly when sprouted)
  • Record birds, butterflies and insects (weekly) and plants they are currently on
  • Compass and GPS reading (once)
  1. Tree Bands to Monitor Mature Native Tree Growth

  • Tree band measurements (quarterly)

  • Identify macro-invertebrates and stages- kick methods or nets (quarterly)
  • Life cycles and numbers (quarterly)
  • Compass and GPS readings (each quarterly)
